The name Pontius refers to the Samnite family of the same name from which Pontius Pilate descended, whose birthplace is traced back to Bisenti (TE). The ancient Palestine Piceni is also the home of the Montonico grape variety.
Pontius is an amber wine with golden highlights, it expresses a unique and enveloping character. The nose is seductive, with a refined bouquet of ripe exotic fruit, smoky peat nuances and intriguing tobacco notes. The palate is lively and structured, with a vibrant freshness that perfectly balances its complex texture. The dry, lingering finish is enhanced by subtle tannins that add depth and charm to the palate.
Food pairing: Pairs beautifully with a variety of complex and bold dishes due to its tannic structure, vibrant acidity and layered flavors. It enhances aged cheeses such as pecorino and taleggio, as well as cured meats such as prosciutto and bacon. It pairs well with white meats, especially when paired with aromatic herbs. Thanks to its intensity, it stands up to spicy and aromatic cuisines such as Middle Eastern, Indian or Southeast Asian.
