In Latin, Maximo means “the best.” This wine comes from the historic Montepulciano grape variety, which has always been synonymous with Abruzzo. Maximo was an ancient Roman family of which Paulus Fabius Maximus was a member, a jurist and politician very close to the Emperor Aelius Hadrian and who anciently played an influential role in the ancient territory of Hadria, today known by the name of Atri and in which Vinum Hadrianum has its roots.

Tasting notes: Maximo is a Ruby red with purplish highlights wine. Aged in amphorae and steel, this exceptional Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo embodies the greatness of the ancient Roman Empire. With intense notes of ripe red fruit, delicate floral nuances and a light spiciness, it embodies the true essence of the Montepulciano grape, a symbol of Abruzzo. On the palate, it is refreshing and intense, with velvety tannins and a subtle savory finish.

Food pairings: Italian hors d'oeuvres, first courses with meat sauces, game, braised meats, roasts, red meats, mature cheeses, dark chocolate.
