Every amphora used in the ageing process of our best wine selections is hand-crafted by local artisan potters trained in the Castelli method. What makes our amphorae so special is that our artisans make them from the local clay that has been prized since Antiquity for its ability to create superior pottery which is both lightweight and strong.
This strength made them ideal for transporting wines and allowed the Hadrianum wines to age for many decades. Our amphorae are sculpted in an local cave where the artisans cook it in kilns, in the same way as their ancestors. These clay vessels bear the same ability to store and age the wine for long periods of time, ensuring the wine grows ever more complex and richly flavoured.
