Publicius is our Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC wine. Obtained from the vinification of only Montepulciano D'Abruzzo grapes, harvested when fully ripe, with a short maceration on the skins for a few hours to give the wine its famous color. It is immediately recognizable for its particular cherry color - a fruit called “cirice” or “cirasce” in the Abruzzese dialect, hence the name Cerasuolo.
The name Publicius is a tribute to an important family of Imperial Rome, the Publicius, a lineage that according to some scholars had its roots in our Hatria, as we read in the papers of the archaeologist and historian Luigi Sorricchio.
